If you think that you are exposed to risk factors for Hepatitis B, you should undergo this test. This assay is useful to monitor and refine treatment of patients with Chronic Hepatitis B virus infection. It also helps to identify true inactive carriers.
Screening for HBV infection may be recommended in those who:
• have come in contact with someone with hepatitis B
• have travelled to a country where hepatitis B is common
• use IV drugs
• receive kidney dialysis
• are pregnant
